It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Truly. Christmas to me means so many things. This season just warms my heart. Celebrating the birth of our Savior, Christmas Eve service at my church, parties with family & friends, musicals at church, Christmas music. The wood stove burning, cookies baking, pot roast in the crock, and coming home everyday to my humble little farmhouse decorated with some of my favorite things. Love it, LOVE it!
Today won’t be one of those deep hearted posts. This one is just pure joy from my heart. It’s me sharing some of the good things happening WIW (while I wait) on that BFP (big fat positive). My home is one of my favorite distractions from life. We truly believe our home is our sanctuary. The experience of coming home makes us so, so happy.
So, here are a few of my favorite things enjoyed during this beautiful season of celebration.
Once again, my favorite chair. My throne. Love my “Falalalala” pillow! I have to say I unhealthily coveted this pillow for a year or two before buying it. #MomentofShame
I am so happy to have access to some magnolia! I just think those trees are beautiful every season in the year. Don’t you? And let’s face it, you can’t have a southern Christmas home tour without some magnolia… Jus’ Sayn’…
Last year, I bought a new Christmas tree after having the previous one since our first year of marriage. Some of the lights were going out and it wasn’t the style I was going for. So, I sprung for a new one last year. This one came from Hobby Lobby and I LOVE it. It has little pinecones and the stems that look more realistic and multicolored & textured.
Vintage ornaments are the best! <3
Oh starry night…
In honor of my Aunt Tam, who passed away far too soon, this little tree has become “Tam’s” tree. My niece and nephew decorate it for me and of course the topper is an animal print Santa hat. Something she always wore at our Christmas parties along with her blinking Christmas light necklace. We miss her so much but every time I look at this tree I think of her. Miss you Tam!
Yes, I even decorate our Vita-Mix station…. Why not? #KitchenNook
I have trees everywhere including my kitchen.
This is one of my new favorite nooks. I love that plaque in the background and of course my dishes for parties! Let’s eat!
One of the big projects that I wanted to do this year was to use greenery from our farms for centerpieces and other decor around the homestead. I found plenty and it turned out beautifully. Will definitely be doing this again next year.
Isn’t this just gorgeous!?!? This was obviously an inexpensive project that lends a beautiful result. Inside of the metal bucket, I set another smaller plastic barn bucket. All of the greens are actually set in that plastic bucket with water. The metal bucket is just for display.
Keep your greens watered just as you would a real Christmas tree to keep them from turning and shedding.
For branches with berries, like these cedar branches with little blue berries on them, you can spray them with hairspray to keep them in place. It’s not 100% effective but it does help.
I think red is such a great color for old farm houses, which can really pull off hard to implement color schemes and themes.
The fabrics in my bedroom are so lovely. This is my favorite bedding out of all the seasons in the year… I have 5 or 6 duvet covers and bedding themes I use… I know… Ridiculous…. But like I said, my home is my passion. Hunters have gobs and gobs of hunting gear and firearms. Those inclined to crafts and sewing have stockpiles of materials. I have stockpiles of bedding, dishes, and candles… Don’t judge. It gives you something happy to look at on this blog. :o*
I do need new pillows though… these are looking a little limp.
Yes, there is a thermometer on my nightstand. This is, after all, a blog written by an Infertile Myrtle. The thermometer is part of the dance. #BBTCharting #FertilityFriend
As always, I have to show a critter or two on my tour posts. I was out getting greenery with the dogs when Jack decided to pick himself a CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS TREE. This dog… He’s just hilarious. He comes trotting in the yard like he won something and dropped this little branch at my feet.
“Mom, can we please decorate my tree? I picked a good one!”
Something so minute made this dog proud and joyful. That’s something that I could stand to work on – finding joy in the littlest of little things… this is what makes life happy.
