I have many, many fond memories of Christmas at our farm growing up. The sights, the smells, the crispness in the air. How mom & dad decorated our wonderful little farm cottage. And I my playhouse… just envision tinsel. Lots and LOTS of tinsel! You know the fluffy garlands you buy at the Dollar Tree? ? It all just takes me back to yesteryear when I was little and carefree.
Our slice of heaven was a little green farmhouse in the outskirts of Ashland, VA on about 5 acres. The property had a two-story red barn that dad would hang this gargantuan vine wreath on. It was cross-fenced with three board wood fences, open fields, a gravel drive, enormous, old trees and, as I have today, lots and lots of critters.
It was everything you could imagine – a genuine sense of peace, the smell of good food cooking, beautiful hardwood floors with puddles of melted snow by the doors. Chickens flittering about the back porch and some even brazen enough to make their way inside the farmhouse.
Except for the clucking of chickens, neighing of horses, and baaing of goats, there was a still quietness that softened even the worst of days. A stunning life.
Yep, I’m a farm girl at heart and will always be one. Though I don’t mind a quick trip to the city here and there. I do love to travel.
Unfortunately, we sold our beloved farm in the late 90’s and moved into town. But, since then, I’ve always had a deep, deep desire to have a farm again. Then, in 1999, Brooks Davis walked into my life with a mutual ambition for the farm lifestyle.
Thank you, Lord(!!!) for bringing that man into my life… for so many reasons in addition to the whole farming thing. Haha No, I didn’t marry him for his farm… ?
We’ve lived in NOTHING but old farmhouses our entire married life. That’s 3 farmhouses in 11 years and we’d have it no other way.
So, back to the tour. Now, that I’m grown with a farmhouse of my own, I love bringing those memories back. I’ve had the pleasure of decorating all 3 of those houses in Christmas Farmhouse style. And each year I get to relive the ‘glory days’ of my childhood.
It is my hope that you all going through this tour will get to live some of those memories and end with one of the most precious pictures captured of our little Annabelle.
Enjoy ❤️
I went simple this year. Expect to see clean, streamlined decor, and a light, airy feel about our holiday home. Oh and get ready because I may have gone simple on the decor but I went BIG on the tour… LOTS AND LOTS of inspiration in this post… you’ve been warned…

Simple wall decor and little mini craft project brighten up the wall spaces. Mason jars with vintage ornaments and string lights scream farmhouse.
Remember that bouquet I used in the Fall Farmhouse Tour???? Never be afraid to deconstruct a flower arrangement. I used the cotton stems and florals in the tree!
I was all about Christmas lights this year. I’ve got them in mason jars, on the coffee table, in the kitchen… everywhere!
On to the dining room for a good old fashioned Christmas feast… of cookies that is. This year, I integrated a cookie bar into the mix.
These Cranberry & Orange Shortbread cookies ⬆️ were TO DIE FOR!!!
I incorporated a lot of galvanized items into the holiday home. Nothing says farm like galvanized anything… troughs, canisters, and the like.
You guys, these chalkboard placemats are AWESOME!!! Expect to see them reused in future tours and posts. They’re SO versatile!
Galvanized Tray + Magnolia + Gold = OH MY! ?
Like I’ve said… galvanized was my theme this year. But now the equation is:
Galvanized + Red Buffalo + Farm Greens = LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ? ?
A very merry farmhouse kitchen…
Exhausted yet?? Me too. Let’s take a nap…
As pretty and decorated as the Christmas season can be, don’t forget that there is truly a ‘reason for the season’. His name is Christ Jesus.
